EN // The workshop will offer to the participants:

– Practical knowledge about sewing machines and overlock machines.
– An overview of how sewing and repairing can help reducing waste.
– Open-source patterns for DIY textile products and open access to textiles to be used for future personal sewing projects.

During the two hours workshop, we will co-create an upcycled textile installation for the Fablab. This workshop is suitable for beginners, you don`t need to have any knowledge. There is no limit of age, to participate you need to register via Eventbrite before the workshop takes place.

IT // Durante il workshop, i partecipanti impareranno:

– Conoscenze pratiche sulle macchine da cucire e sulla macchina taglia e cuci.
– Una panoramica su come cucire e riparare abiti può contribuire alla riduzione dei rifiuti.
– Verranno forniti cartamodelli e tessuti che potranno essere utilizzati per i vostri futuri progetti di cucito.

Durante il workshop di due ore, lavoreremo insieme per progettare un’installazione tessile di upcycling per il Fablab. L’obiettivo è che ogni partecipante impari a usare le macchine da cucire del Fablab. Questo workshop è adatto ai principianti, non è necessaria alcuna esperienza precedente. Non ci sono limiti di età, ma è richiesta l’iscrizione tramite Eventbrite.

DE// Beim Workshop lernen die Teilnehmer:

– Praktische Kenntnisse über Nähmaschinen und die Overlock-Nähmaschine des Fablab.
– Einen Überblick, wie Nähen und Reparieren von Kleidungsstücken zur Abfallvermeidung beitragen kann.
– Schnittmuster und Textilien werden zur Verfügung gestellt und können für dein zukünftiges Nähprojekte verwendet werden.

Während des zweistündigen Workshops werden wir gemeinsam eine „upcycling“ Textil-Installation für das Fablab nähen. Ziel ist es, dass jeder Teilnehmer die Benutzung der Nähmaschinen des Fablab lernt. Dieser Workshop ist für Anfänger geeignet, es sind keine Vorkenntnisse nötig. Es gibt keine Altersbeschränkung, eine Anmeldung über Eventbrite ist notwendig.

Industrial sewing machine model “Simac SI 9850-MI” with table for sewing hard textiles like cotton, hard garments, thin leather. The sewing speed can be set, for beginners it`s recommended to start with the slowest speed setting. This sewing machine has only one program “straight stitch” but you can set the distance between the stitches.

Domestic sewing machine “PFAFF Select 3.2” for all kind of flexible, soft to middle hard textiles. There are a lot of programs and accessories available.

PFAFF Coverlock sewing machine

PFAFF Coverlock sewing machine

The “PFAFF Coverlock 4862” is a coverlock sewing machine specially designed for processing cloth. With this sewing machine, you can:

  • Create overlock stitches: these types of stitches are used to hold two layers of fabric together without the back of the fabric showing.
  • Sew two or more layers of fabric together to create a thicker and sturdier fabric.
  • Create elastic seams that adapt to the body’s movements, ensuring a high degree of freedom of movement.
  • Create rolled hem seams: this is a special type of seam that is used to make the edges of fabrics look neat and professional.
  • Use extra presser feet and accessories: with the PFAFF Coverlock 4862, additional presser feet and accessories can be used to work with different types of seams and fabrics.
